CRYING HIGH - Brazilian Choro Jazz
Pronounced "shó ro," it literally means "to cry" in Portuguese, and it is a music with deep roots in the café culture of 1920's Rio De Janeiro.
Choro has been called modern acoustic jazz, classical ensemble repertoire, traditional dance forms based around a samba groove, and syncopated movement within African rhythmic structures. Info & Bookings
CARRIBEAN PAN GROOVE
This authentic and exciting Caribbean steel pan group is led by Desmond Bedlow, who originates from the island of Tobago and Trinidad. Desmond has led his group for as long as he has resided in the Bay Area, playing all over California. His repertoire ranges from Reggae to Bossa Nova, to the native sounds of Soca and Calypso. The music will definitely take you away and make you feel like you are sitting on the beach of some far away island, sipping rum in the sun. Caribbean Pan Groove can vary from a trio to a full five-piece group, which includes three pan players, a bassist and a drummer. CUBANACAN
Established in 1991 by Cuban born arranger, producer and bass player, Marcus Israel López. He decided to go back to his roots of Cuban pop music and retrieved an arsenal of talented musicians to create a unique and authentic ssound that is called salsa today. His ten-piece Bay Area "crossover" band fuses a syncopated rhythm section featuring tasty timbales, congas, and bongos to perform both originals and standards. more

THE MURASAKI ENSEMBLE
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, The Murasaki Ensemble blend acoustic instruments from around the globe to create a musical experience unlike any other -- elements of traditional Japanese music, Near Eastern rhythms and improvisational jazz converge, producing a sound that is extremely vibrant and innovative yet still manages to sound familiar. ORQUESTA D'SOUL
Orquesta D'Soul is comprised of bass, piano, trumpet, sax, congas, drum set/tims and vocals. Orquesta D'Soul is based out of San Francisco, California and is led by Marina Garza. Marina has been playing trumpet and fleugel horn professionally for 10 years. She has received a Bachelor's of Music from Baylor University in Texas, and also holds a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. She has recently recorded with local bay area artists such as Mumblin Jim, Sage, and MOS band. In addition to writing, singing and playing trumpet with ODS, she also arranges for other local bands. THE SOCA SISTERS
The Soca Sisters specializes in tropical sounds - calypso, soca, bossa novas, sambas and reggae - all guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and to make you want to dance. VIVENDO DE PAO
Vivendo de Pão formed in 1996, inspired by singer/songwriter Kevin Welch's experiences while living in the simple thatched roof hut villages of the Brazilian Amazon. The intense rhythm and flowing melodies of Vivendo de Pão express the ability of the human spirit to overcome adversity and celebrate life in all its richness and beauty. Since their beginnings, the band has played at dozens of venues and special events, has cut two well-received CDs, has received great reviews by the press, and was voted "Best Latin / International Band" in the 1997 SF Weekly WAMMIES Awards.

WILD MANGO
The rhythms of the world are combined through the heavily syncopated music of Oakland, CA-based septet Wild Mango. Performing a mixture of traditional tunes, including "La Bamba"; the Egyptian tune "Salem Alei"; pop classics (Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "The Look of Love); and original songs, the group crafts a seamless blend of international sounds. The members of Wild Mango are all veterans of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene.
Bringing to the stage an energetic and passionate fusion of Latin, jazz, Funk and Brazilian styles, the band has toured nationally and internationally. They've shared stages with acts such as the Manhattan Transfer, Tuck & Patti and Los Van Van. Info & Bookings
