Crowned
"the King of Swing" and compared to Woody Allen for the
intellectual irony of his songs, Sergio's combination of elite musical
execution and literal eloquence fascinated fans of varied generations
and backgrounds worldwide. His music successfully bridged the diverse
musical worlds of jazz and pop with an eccentric twist.
In the following years his critically acclaimed LP releases, Italiani,
Mambo! in1984, adding a Latin beat to his jazzy sound, and a third
LP No Smoking in 1985, with his signature smoky nightclub atmosphere,
confirmed Sergio's singer/songwriting talents as well as his position
in contemporary music and in the hearts of enthusiastic fans.
Sergio Caputo's prolific recording career continued over the next
2 decades to produce 13 CDs released by major labels Warner and
Polygram, and numerous hits that have topped the pop charts year
after year. Sergio's prestigious collaborations include recordings
with jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Scott and others, and live
performances with names like Lester Bowie. In the year 2000 Sergio
Caputo began the new millennium by moving to the United States where
he currently lives and works.
